This is a link post What's possibly better than an adblocker?
Something that silently clicks on every single advert, so the companies that bombard you with ads suffer financially and get no ROI...

This is a normal post seems like a good idea
I see a downside though - it makes your browsing history more obvious

This is a normal post I can think of another
it might open you up to malicious adverts.

I think I posted in haste...

This is a normal post to be fair
I haven't read their paper
they might have covered all this

This is a normal post One would hope
they anonymise it so it doesn't add to the mountain of data they already have on you.

I too, have not read the paper.

This is a normal post ah fuck it
I'm going to read their paper

This is a normal post they seem to have robust defences against malicious ads
or as much as ublock anyway
and the rest depends on what settings you use, it goes from 'see all ads and click on everything' to 'see no ads and click on none'
(, Wed 5 Nov 2025, 19:58, Reply)
This is a normal post The click is still going to come from your IP.
Even if it blocks *all* fingerprinting methods, that still ties "you" to the interest. That thing was made by a moron.

This is a normal post did you read their paper?

(, Thu 6 Nov 2025, 11:57, Reply)
This is a normal post Yes.
If you think I missed the part where they explicitly mask your IP, please do reference it - it's possible I missed it after all.

This is a normal post Can't help but feel they already get a shit ROI
due to the sheer amount of bot traffic on the web.
(, Wed 5 Nov 2025, 15:59, Reply)
This is a normal post I just set up a new pc and had to use a virgin browser
with no adblock or ublock, there are still fuckloads of ads
so maybe they haven't reached the tipping point quite yet

This is a normal post Advertisers are getting the same enshittification treatment
as everyone else, though. They aren't winning.

Edit: I was waffling. Waffle removed.

This is a normal post All that will do is affirm your interest in them.
You're also giving the ad companies money, and costing the business that paid for the ad. It won't "help" at all.
(, Thu 6 Nov 2025, 9:05, Reply)
This is a normal post costing the business and obfuscating real clicks is the stated purpose, yes

This is a normal post While enriching the likes of Google even further.
Actual brainlet thinking. Sticking it to The Man, while giving the Bigger Man even more.

Maybe if the companies paying for the ads get few genuine leads, they pay for fewer or ads somewhere else. ROI as others have suggested.

This is a normal post I could easily break that
by loading up a local news website
