This is a link post Why Peter Molyneux really, really fucks me off.
He's at it again with his fucking Natal or 'kinetic' thing.

Watch this 'tech demo.'

I reckon 95% of this is utter shit, oh, and 100% scripted.

We're supposed to fucking believe that his 'boy' can understand EVERY WORD of the English language, recognise a drawing you've done and make comments.

Oh, and tell the mood you're in.

Mates of mine went to E3, played with Natal and said that all they could do was jump up and down like cretins to make a rubber raft avoid rocks in some crap pre-wii looking game.

Molyneux makes it look like he's just invented fucking HAL.

he did the same with Black and White. I went out and bought the thing after a similar spiel of shit from Molyneux. He'd reinvented artificial intelligence, apparently.

I ended up with some cripple Gorilla who walked around my carefully built world eating villagers and throwing his own shit.

I'd be interested in a rather more 'techy' b3tans disassembling this and counting the lies.

Or, I could be wrong and the man has suddenly become God.

See what you think.

This is a normal post Yeah, this video's been around for about a year now
I think it probably is sugar coated to some extent, but I feel that Molyneux has the right idea when it comes to the future of gaming.

The new Fable game that's coming out from Lionhead this year looks fantastic. I for one am actually a fan of the guy and 95% of the shit he comes out with is usually pretty good.

I'd prefer a guy that pushes the envelope, takes risks and actually tries new ideas out rather than churning out the same old bullshit :)

This is a normal post All he does is churn out the same old bullshit!
Fable 2 was exactly the same as fable one, far to easy over to quick and with no replay value, the only thing that was better about the 2nd was that you didnt get called chicken chaser all the fecking time!

This is a normal post He aint so bad.
I grew up playing his games, and only found out they were his when Fable 2 Came out and I watched some promo thing.... he did have a hand in some greats - Populous, syndicate and the much forgotton Magic Carpet. I spent many a happy hour with those games, sad bastard that I am. He does try to do something original and a bit more thoughful than most game developers, so good luck to him I say.

This is a normal post That does look toss...
However Populous, Syndicate, syndicate wars, theme park & theme Hospital mean that he can make some shite games and still be pretty fucking cool.

This is a normal post ^ damn right
Those games rocked.

I actualy like the Black and White's but they did start a trend of him slowly scouring his own backside for ideas. B&W was a great idea but not everything that was promised. B&W2 was just an update to the 1st with no new innovations, just some tidying up.

Fable series was dire. Good concepts but terrible execution.

what a game.....the Colorado level where you could 'eliminate' hundreds of pedestrians with mini-guns was ground breaking at the time. All this agro over Modern Warfare 2's airport level......Molyneux was doing it 17 years ago.

This is a normal post Whilst I think that the video is scripted
Milo and Natal are two completely different things - Natal (Kinect) is the motion function control and Milo was Microsoft's Demo that Molyneux helped created.

Kinect does recognise faces, facial expressions and pictures but I would guess with no-where the alacrity of Milo in the video.

Thing to note as well is that most developers have only had the Kinect Kit for just under a year whereas Molyneux will have had access to it from day one with Microsoft.

This is a normal post Isn't Kinect due for release some time this or next year?
I might give it 12-18 months on the market, let them work out the kinks - THEN I'll try it. I refuse to believe that it's as intuitive and as brilliant as all the hype.

This is a normal post Milo was a demo
in the same sense that you could say James Cameron's Avatar was a "demo"... or any of the pre rendered game trailers you see online are "demo's".

MS have already announced that Milo was never intended to be made into a game... which makes you think - they created this impressive looking system that appears to emotively connect with the player; can follow, interpret, understand and react to physical cues, spoken words and phrases? But naah, lets put out a game where you control a fuckin raft by waving your arms about like a jummy!

I'd wager that you could've repeatedly shouted "FUCK YOU" whilst waving a flaming axe at the screen and Milo would've acted exactly the same as in the "demo".

This is a normal post Good point is good.
It's a shame though, give it another ten years and we can all abuse little boys.

This is a normal post Molyneux is currently trying to develop
Milo & Kate into a game. Microsoft canned it because they thought they couldn't make it into a workable, popular game.

I don't refute that the video we saw was a predone demo, but I reckon there might be a little bit of truth.

Just for the record, I'm an avid 360 gamer who has absolutely no intention of buying Kinect.

This is a normal post haha yeah that shit is blatantly smoke and mirrors
typical fucking salesman, selling scripted and fake software, hoping to drum up enough funds to actually make his bullshit real.

If that was real, it would be a revelation, and most of it is just simple bollocks anyway. Moving your arms around to touch the water on the screen? Big fucking whoop.

I can't see Kinect succeeding, but I can see the PS3 Move succeeding...
