OMG, so many memories.
Mid 1984.
I already owned "The Reflex" on 7" vinyl, then on my birthday, a girl I fancied gave me the 12". Sadly, it was _exactly_ the same. Literally, 4 mins 20 seconds.
The B-side was OK though; "come up and see me" - which lead me to discover Cockney Rebel.
I had a John Taylor cushion. One of those really old-school transfer prints that piggled off. Another girlfrield picked out his eyeballs, so he looked like a zombie.
Saw them live that year too Nottingham "Theatre Royal". (IIRC, which is dubious). They were shit, which led me into the world of indie and goth.

As he was the main reason for their comeback with “Ordinary World”.

What an arrogant twat.
I bet he wrote the Wikipedia article about himself too; it's packed with reflected glory, and has claims only he would know.
He sounds way up his own arse.
I'm pretty certain John Taylor is real, and plays bass guitar. You might not like his playing, but that's a different issue.

He's a funny twat. Also real, also plays bass, and gets paid for his ability, not his looks in his twenties.
Duran Duran are a nice memory, but not a particularly good band. Well marketed, and photogenic. Talk Talk are a far better example of the era.
