I have a personal thing to add here.
I cycled over it a few years back (like hundreds of times over the years) and I cycled past one guy who looked strange, then he started climbing over the railings and I was thinking waahhh? oh no.... I could have maybe stopped. But I kept going, Then i looked down and saw him floating face up in the water, quite dead.
So, yeah. hmmm.

I had a similar thing today with a snake (or maybe slowworm)
Was cycling down a quiet village street, rode past the serpent, was just absently wondering about turning round and trying to move the beggar when a 4x4 roared past me. Flat as a pancake.
