half a million of them. People could take their beloved moggy and donate them for a shilling as part of the war effort and their cat would be used to control vermin and pests in British supply depots. At one point the Americans even joined in and started sending us their cats.
I read this in Rolf Harris's Beastly Behaviour which I was glancing at whilst on the bog earlier.
So less of the CaC jibes please. Our heroic feline friends helped fight the Hun.
