They'd show my 'famous fights' where one guy was on the floor pretending to be barely alive. All I could think was "are you kidding me?"
What is the point? At least Big Daddy killed people for real in the ring.

and he used to put his body through hell. Although it's a show, they do put their bodies through a lot of stress.

I saw a documentary about the wrestlers in the UK, the types who play to a handful of bored kids at Dorking Halls on a Wednesday night. The behind the scenes stuff showed some rather painful injuries and an unsurprisingly depressing way of life - load up the van, onto the next venue with a sprained ankle etc. At least they're doing something they enjoy, I suppose. This clip isn't the one I was looking for but it's in a similar vein www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NJIAi3oRgk

Who would look at a script and see a bit that says "meathead picks you up and throws you 30 feet down onto a table" and go "Yeah, sounds fine by me"?

they do it because they enjoy 'fighting' or competing, it just so happens that in the wwe there is a script of sorts, the film 'the wrestler' pretty much nails it with regard to the script situation, there will be a bunch of stuff that needs to happen within a match, a path they need to take it down. Take The Undertaker throwing Mankind off the top of the cage, Mick Foley (mankind) had to convince the undertaker to do that to him, he had no idea that he would suffer a dislocated shoulder, a tooth getting knocked out and going up into his sinuses through his throat and coming out his nose, a badly bruised hip, biting all the way through his bottom lip, and a concussion. But I guess the thrill of it all is why they do it.

if they were either:
tables, ladders or chair matches, no disqualification matches, extreme matches or hell in a cell types of matches...
