Cigarettes, gambling, porn and booze. What's your addiction? How low have you sunk and how have you tried to beat it?
Thanks to big-girl's-blouse for the suggestion

itboxes...
...are evil. I've certain they've got some sort of learning algorithim in them, cos they start fairly easy and once you've won, oooh, a pound or so, they go stupidly difficult or you have to answer 50questions correctly in a row to win anything.
Still put loads of cash in the bastards though when I'm out with my sister...my enabler.

The learning algorithm is required by law
Basically, as to be seen to be doing things against gambling, the government say that it must pay out a minimum percentage of it's takings. With fruit machines, the payout level is minimum 75%. Keep on pressing start on a fruit machine, and you will win back eventually 75% of the money you put in.
itboxes are much lower, around 25-30%. But it's usually down to "skill". So your 50 questions in a row to win fuck all means that the machine is screwing you over. If it wants you to win, it'd usually give you a prize very quickly (like in a mystery box etc.), as even the easy questions can still confuse people.
My advice is to go for a quiz where a finite number of questions will get you jackpot. The best for this is Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, or Deals on Wheels (though that doesn't win you jackpot, but usually a nice amount).
Yes, I play them far too much.
