Last night I witnessed possibly the most cynical example of marketing ever
Cunningly disguised as a piece of 45-minute family drama with a science fiction twist. Yes, Doctor Who, I'm looking at you. If that new, chunky Dalek design, in five bright and shiny colours isn't a marketing ploy to sell more toys at Christmas, then I'll eat my hat.
I'll probably still buy the fuckers though, even though I'm not sure about the new design. They've got fat arses for starters.

And what's that new eye-piece all about?
The dialogue suggested to me that it was leading to some revival of the really old Dalek design. These new ones just look like a Smart car with added bumps and Dalek-bits.

True
They look fucking hideous, and very plasticy. I even noticed they wobbled from side to side as they speak-looked like a 5 year old filmed it.
Edit: Though it does leave room for an old vs new dalek war, which would be ace.

If they resembled the old versions a bit more in terms of shape it wouldn't be so bad.
But the new ones look completely out of proportion, the top half is too small compared with the bottom, they're too big in general, look like hunchbacks and... Oh, don't let me go off on one. The average Joe bloggs will probably think they don't look any different, BUT THEY DO!!!

Nah
They are very, very different. It isn't like the new vs old series, where they look the same until stood together. The latest ones look bloody awful.

Hunchbacks!
That was the exact term I used when I saw them. The only thing that I like about them is the dome and eye-stalk, the rest can just go to the old dalek dump!

Grah
My son has mentioned that he wants one for his birthday later in the year.
One good thing about the episode is that it has got him interested in Spitfires and he's thinking of buying an airfix kit with his pocket money.
