reminded me of Honda's MR2 marketing campaign severely backfiring in France.

'MR2' pronounced the French way (em-merd-eu) means 'shitty'.

It's "Emm-Air-Duh" - "Merde", which means "Shit", not "shitty"

It actually sounds like emmerdeur - literally "enshittening", but meant as "a pain in the arse". It was renamed to MR in France, I believe.

The Sinclair Zike.

The Sinclair Zike was veteran inventor, Sir Clive Sinclair's punt to the Dutch cycling market, being as it was a battery assisted bicycle.

Unfortunately, "Zike" translates as "Piss" in Dutch...
