Reflecting the sentiments above, I despair at the fact that scum like this will get a couple of years B&B at her majesty's pleasure (and our expense).

I think that jail is the problem to these shitbags. most decent folk avoid crime because the thought of prison is a deterrent. If prison is nothing worse that butlins with (only slightly) less drugs / booze / sex, where's the deterrent?

Why isn't jail hard? It should be a 5'x7' cell with bars on the front, preferably outdoors, and bread & water once a day.
