Well, I actually like a lot of your tales. This one needs moar urgent bowel evacuation though.
I suspect comedic exaggeration, and occasionally downright lies, but I enjoyed Star Wars when it first came out and I didn't wholly believe that either. My enjoyment of the film would not have been materially increased by people shouting "cunt" from behind me every 30 seconds.
Don't get me wrong, the 'trolls' can occasionally make insightful puncturing of some pomposity, particularly when the replies are witty, even as far as the predictable in-jokes (bins, Honda accords, sheds etc), but all too often I suspect the constant barrage of negativity prevents people from posting a story at all, which I think is a shame.
Oh, and while I'm at it, I don't autistically track /links every second of the day, so occasionally I miss stuff. I don't particularly care if something has been posted more often than Cristie Kerr's trophy.
