Happy 10th Birthday B3ta
Ten years ago today we launched B3ta (well the version of it you'd recognise). Happy birthday B3ta! As a special one off please add your memories of B3ta here. E.g. How you found the site, or an early thing you saw on the site, maybe the people you've met or how the community is/was part of your life.

Hello hello, I'm still here 7 years on...
I've made some great friends that despite the great distances between us always look forward to travelling to meet. I've also been lucky to be able to claim b3ta user Jessie as a friend for as long as the time she was given - cut far too short - which while it was not long enough it was well worth every moment and I'm glad that we spent some good times before there weren't any more times left.
I've done some photoshopping but probably always been at best a rough amateur-level technical photomasher, if I REALLY REALLY TRY HARD. It's actually helped me with work as my diagram skills have improved. Still, it helps you exorcise a stupid idea from rattling around your head once you actually get it out into the form of a picture.
I had an incredibly pointless session trying to blend into /talk and finding that I'm not psychologically suited to that kind of rough house banter, and trying to inject a thread based on something 'interesting' doomed me to failure- thus resulting in the infamous Nonce Legal Threat fail and flounce- not to mention being identified as both 'bash photographer pervert' (my flickr photostream and individual pictures have been accessed over 220,000 times though even though I've given up on it recently so someone must be interested in seeing pictures of internet shut-ins)and 'Piston_Broke's substitute dullest-bloke-at-bash' after I threatened to hose down baldmonkey's improvised match head bomb with a fire extinguisher if he did try and set people on fire with it. Which was unneccessary really as it was so badly designed and implimented that it wasn't going to ignite the way he was handling it anyway.
Turned up to my first bash in my native (then) Coventry and as I was nervous and expecting a collection of professional graphic artists who all knew each other, brought along prints of some of my board pictures as an aide memoire look at pictures instead of reading who dun them- another mistake, as it renders me looking 'hideously pathetic' apparently.
But still ,look on the bright side- b3ta was a useful resource for passing evenings while single and bored with TV and I still enjoy it, have some great friends (oh and a b3tan girlfriend!) as well as a social life which was something I didn't really have 7 years ago....
Carry on.

You've sort of missed the point of the post.
There are more good memories than bad ones listed, yet you've chosen to pick up on the easy option.

You turned up at a bash, in public, carrying print offs of pictures you'd made? How well were you expecting that to go?

YES J.A.
I got away without being drawn on with permanent markers whilst pissed and insensible and pissing myself.

Nonce Legal Threat?
Why does everything interesting happen when I'm not around?

people can be mean, but then I'm hardly cool. I'm not bitter about it.
carry along now.

Yes, your rather petty and immature grudge is so insignificant that you spent more than half of your post* carrying on about it.

Try reading it again.
Three good memories, two not so good ones, and let's face it, an encounter with baldmonkey when he's being shit instead of brilliant often ends badly.
On another note, you counted the words???

*carries on*
I sometimes go to /talk for a laugh (yes, sometimes, when /board is vewy vewy quiet), but I don't think I ever got a reply to a remark I made over there.
Also, I recall you posting a picture of yourself in front of a car, with a black suit and white shoes, no? That went down well ;)

I thought Micto was all poised to take against me
but it just ended up being rough-and-tumble as boys will. He was more pissed off about my trainers than anything else....
