"Taste" is ephemeral and personalThe hideous brown stripy nylon garments from BHS and Littlewoods that I was dressed in from 1967 to 1977 were all I knew and so perfectly acceptable. After learning to despise them, I see the same styles now back in fashion, and my (much younger) brother has a Missoni shirt (circa £200) that is identical to a vile "Lord John" brand shirt I wore in 1972.
Likewise the music - apart from the nasty twee stuff - if you bin it, you will regret it later, if only from nostalgia.
Although finding the first three Toyah albums in my parents attic last month was embarrassing. But I was only 11. And wanked over the photos of her more than listened to it.
