Last week I saw a helium balloon cross the road at the lights on a perfectly timed gust of wind. Today I saw four people trying to get into a GWiz electric car. They failed.

I was lucky enough to win a studentship
It has a little stipend attached, not a lot by many people's standard but enough to get by on. Considering what I'll be getting up to, there's no way I could do it without research council support. I'm guessing you funded yourself?
