you do realise that they only kept serving you food because you didn't leave anything (It's a cultural thing). Only fat bastards ever get as far as a final rice course. Rice is traditionally only used to fill you up if you are still hungry. That's why it's usually served at the end in Chinese and Japanese Resturants. It's not a good idea to order rice at the best resturants - makes you look poor.
I think they were just taking the piss with the melon. The Jap's are like that ;-)

Wrong!
The Japanese are offended if you don't eat every last grain of rice. The food was a set 10 course meal and all 18 of us had the same. So ner ner ner nerner. There were loads of food and drink rules I had to learn, they're quite picky. In China however if you finish the plate you are basically telling them they are stingy and the meal was meagre.

Thanks for posting the pics, I live in a cosmopolitan city, yet there's very little genuine Japanese tucker to be had.
