I really get annoyed at people that number their books.
Calling something 'Part 1' implies you are so arrogant that you take it for granted that people will be excited to read part 2.

Writers do it because they are unable to restrain themselves from using 300,000 words to tell a story and their publisher says "no"
...so they split the story into smaller books.

I think it's ever so polite of authors
to label their work as "This might go on a bit, so you'll probably want to give it a miss."

Though if they do that they've got less chance of getting onto the "best of" page
by pushing everything else off the screen and hogging the clicks from the folk who equate quality with quantity.
