Lose the reply function to qotw
It just descends into whining and one-upmanship every week now. Let people go off topic if they want but I find that it detracts from some of the answers, and sometimes the replies end up being the reason why a not particularly good story wins.

Thank you

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Hah,
just realised you'd already suggested this as a reply to the integrate the boards suggestion. Didn't mean to copy you, it must just be a really good idea. :)

Brilliant minds think alike.
As do complete fucking idiots.

It's trying to work out which group one belongs to that's the tricky bit.

Bollocks.
If the replies are the reason some posts win, excellent. Read the replies.

Okay
But then we should rename QOTW 'Let's all have an argument' just so that people are clear that that's what they have to do now. 'Best/Worst comeback of the week' might work too...

It's part of The Internet and is accessible by boys.
Isn't the "let's all have a row" aspect already taken for granted?

I prefer the 'let's all have a cup of tea' path myself
It used to be ace though. Looking back on the archived answers(which I did a lot of whilst waiting to sprout), before the reply function was added, so many of them were causing me tears of laughter or were brutally honest. I liked it when they seemed to have the veneer of truth and weren't pandering to a perceived fanclub that certain posters appear to believe they have. It takes itself far too seriously now.

(I'm aware that I am also taking it a bit seriously-but I let my stories be once written, none of that replying for me).
