This might be a bit radical
and be met with the same kind of outcry as when we could suddenly reply to replies on Off Topic...
... But could Off Topic have the most recently-replied-to topic at the top? Like most forums do? Coz sometimes topics that are actually quite good get lost off the bottom of the page because of lots of crap ones and trolls.

Would be a complete change though
An improvement would be if it showed "last responded to at *time*" like things do when you search.

Well my point stands: the way it is leaves something to be desired. And not just by me.
Y'see, to illustrate - this topic itself has fallen off the page and nobody will find it now. And people who might have mightily agreed will never have the opportunity to add their opinions.

and you could just keep replying to yourself and the message would stay at the top
