A lot of Chinese and Indians anglify their names
So he probably wasn't lying.
Although I loathe foreign call centres as the people never understand you and cannot deal with comments or issues that are not on their scripts. Idiots.

A lot
of them are requested to Anglify their names for their work. So it is still a lie, meant to give a sense of familiarity. Like a lot of callcentres have the news from BBC and the English weather up on a computer screen in case small chat is needed
