This is a question Cars

"Here in my car", said 80s pop hero Gary Numan, "I feel safest of all". He obviously never shared the same stretch of road as me, then. Automotive tales of mirth and woe, please.

I don't drive a car, I ride a bike and all I have to say is *learn to fugging drive please*.

Yeah, you STILL need to signal when turning left if only a cyclist is behind you.
Yeah, you STILL need to let me pass you if you're going at 5mph and I'm going at whatever
Yeah, I do stop at red lights, so STOP FUGGING PARKING IN THE CYCLE LANE

/rant over

I don't ride a bike...
I drive a car and all I have to say is *learn to fucking cycle please*.

Yeah, you STILL shouldn't pull out of a junction infront of a car that has right of way as it turns into a side street.

i cycle and drive
and a lot of both parties are total twunts.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 13:23, closed)
I agree
I actually came back to this post specifically to add "unfortunately in any group of people there will be some who are complete sockpuppets"

I pedestrian
And fucking cyclists who cycle on the fucking pavement are fucking wazzocks.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 19:05, closed)
As for me...
I am another one who does both, and can say with experience that both sets of you are utter twunts...
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 14:06, closed)

A twunt I may be, however a turd I am not. Or am, depending on the ailgnment of the stars
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 14:08, closed)
i also cycle
*click*

(I believe that is the convention)

And if I'm indicating right, that is not an invitation to attempt a daring last minute overtaking manoeuvre (risk my life coz you're running late, ooh thanks), it means wait your bastard turn.

Okay, but in return
YOU DO NOT GET TO CHOOSE WHETHER OR NOT A RED LIGHT APPLIES TO YOU.

You're either a pedestrian - in which case stay on the pavement and cross at the light - or you're a vehicle - in which case YOU CANNOT GO ON THE PAVEMENT.

I could see this
turning into a car vs bike argument. Yes, there are twunts on both sides, but let me say this.

in a car vs cycle accident, the cyclist is going to lose. If you drive like a twunt you might kill a cyclist, if you cycle like a twunt you might dent a panel or two.

Agreed
I would rather it not turn into a Them Vs. Us arguement as most threads like this do.

I do respect the fact that there are 5/6/7/8 ton hulks of metal running past me at all times so it's all the more irritating when the above happens...

Or like today when without warning someone decides to cut across three lanes without signalling, the bus driver with the 18 foot long bus certainly wasn't amused.

I cycle and drive...
You might think it's a good idea to filter up my left-hand side, but that means that I can't see you. It's hard enough to see you in the car where I have windows down the side - when I'm in my van, I can't see you at all. Not in the mirror, not through the steel side doors. I might see you if you're actually level with the window. Mostly, I won't see you and that's when you get squished into the railings because you've ignored the fact that I'm turning left.
