This is a question Cars

"Here in my car", said 80s pop hero Gary Numan, "I feel safest of all". He obviously never shared the same stretch of road as me, then. Automotive tales of mirth and woe, please.

To be fair to him, he did phone back later...
...and apologise, saying that he'd been back and had a look at the road markings, and was indeed in the wrong.

That still doesn't erase the wtf factor of the original statement, though!

What is it about expensive German cars?
Without fail, every driver of an Audi, BMW, or Mercedes, is a cunt, a complete and utter cunt. I'd dearly love to know whether driving these cars turns them into cunts, or their cuntishness causes them to drive these cars. Which comes first, being a cunt, or driving an overpriced Panzerwagen?

Strangely, I've yet to experience any cuntishness from Volkswagen drivers.

Never had any trouble with Audis
but Bimmers and Mercs, loads of arsehole in them. Volvos, for being unaware of anything. And Peugeot 406es for tailgating and crap overtaking.

That's in cars, motorbikes and pushbikes. The 406es are particularly obnoxious to the motorbike.

I think it's the status symbol thing
People who want a car as a status symbol tend to be of a certain personality type, and that's reflected in their driving. BMWs especially were seen as status symbols, not so much these days, but to that type of person they're still the car to have.

That said, I've just bought an old BM 5-series* - not as a a status symbol, but because it's a lot nicer (albeit much older) than the other cars in my price range I looked at.

I'm not a cunt, but I'll let you know if I become one ;)

*wasted humour on the test drive: I said "I know it's old, but with it being a BMW the indicators will never have been used", and the guy just didn't get it all :D
