As a nipper, I always used to get confused when watching John Craven's Newsround when he was talking about gorillas fighting in some unheard of African province. I wondered how difficult it would be to train a gorilla to hold a gun, let alone fire one. It wasn't until years later that I learned what a guerilla was...

back in the 90s
Mad magazine did a piece on how children interpret headlines with "gorilla attack over plain of jars" with the resultant massive silver packs advancing over a flat area covered in glass jars.

I guess you had to be there.

I remember hearing a report on the radio when I was about 6, that gorillas had taken over a radio station in (some African country). That weirded me out for ages until I asked my Mum.
