Having only ever heard about it, and never having seen it, I still like to think that the Hanger Lane Gyratory SystemIs some sort of massively complex alien spacecraft run by a clockwork and steam engine.

I once had to go around the Hangar Lane roundabout from the North Circ to the A40 and all the traffic lights were out - took nigh on an hour of inching along!!

I have to face that monstrosity every workdayand from the never ending traffic that approaches it I sometimes wonder if it's run by some alien invaders with some obscure evil plan. I've even changed to a motorbike now just to avoid having to sit in the horrible queues it constantly spawns.
