Door Knocking ain't about converting votes
It's about identifying likely voting intentions so people favourable to a particular party (or more likely candidate) can be flushed out on polling day and marched to the station. When there is a low turnout a decent op on the day can win wards regardless of actual majority support . . .

I tell them yes, but really non-commitally.
They usually look puzzled and go 'err... ok.' It seems to be the quickest route back to saving my tea and watching Dangermouse.
