This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Personalised number plates
I was recently party to a conversation where some friends were discussing which personalised registration would look best on his new BMW. I think they are a completely waste of money and just show the owner to have more ego than sense.

Edit: fixed some poor grammar. Always proofread.

I agree entirely
I have no desire to have a useless accessory on my car which draws attention to myself.

I'd rather spend the money on something which will be of some use to me.

Can't dispute this.
Have a click.

.
I laugh like a loon when I see a BMW with 'BMW' on the numberplate. And why do the indicators on BMW's never work?

It's even funnier
when you see someone who obviously used to have a BMW, driving around with a number plate like X5 BMW, which is currently on a VW Polo or something!

I just find
it sad that people spend THOUSANDS on a combination of letters and numbers, that only make fleeting sense if you illegally mis-space them. The only time they make sense is for Chauffeur driven cars and coaches that want to hide the age of the vehicle.
Why not just allow vanity plates of any combination like they do in most states in the USA.

I wonder if
WAN K3R is available from the DVLA? It would look great on a BMW.

I've never seen the point either..
I mean, someone driving around in a car with FR4NK on the reg plate, thinking he's very clever that it almost spells his name.
However, as far as I know, he could be called "Trevor"....

Yes!
I got in trouble for saying that a while back. This guy seemed personally offended because I can't understand why anyone would want to spend thousands on a license plate. He didn't have one, but did have an ego the size of Jupiter so perhaps he wanted one.
Which reminds me of another one: Tyre black.
Yes, that's right, this same arsehole used to paint his tyres with black paint. He didn't even have a particularly good car.
