This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

A conversation I had last year:
"I'm going to get this jacket"

"Oh, right. How much?"

"£600"

"You WHAT!?"

"Yeah I know - but it's Stone Island"

"Hold on - it's exactly the same as my jacket that I got for £80." (long black cashmere coat)

"Yeah... But it's Stone Island"

"So?"

"It's Stone Island."

"..."

Designer clothing. Made in sweatshops for ten pence and a smack around the face for the workers (for the most part) then marked up 10,000 percent and sold to gullible twats.

guy i used to know
spent £80 on a bog standard polo shirt because it was stamped "stone island." The logo wasn't even embroidered FFS.
I deliberately lost touch with him because of his penchant for playing pocket billiards in public.

Stone Island...
Is that the clothing with the button on tags?

Mate of mine got really pissed off when I kept unbuttoning his tag and putting it back upside down.

argh yes!
I have a friend who is extremely intelligent and generally quite down to earth and rational. I just don't understand why it is that she goes completely loopy when confronted with particular clothing labels.
