This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Two of the best-received movies of 2007
There Will Be Blood - I found it slow and pretentious
No Country For Old Men - While I applaud any film that fucks with audience expectations, I was ultimately left feeling unfulfilled despite an awesome first half.

Yet these two movies seemed to be met with almost unviersal praise by everyone else. Slow year or did I just miss something?

I hear you.
Also, could I add 'The Dark Knight' to that list?

It was good. quite good. But that's it.

Yes I'm sorry Heath Ledger threw a seven and all that - and he was good in the film, but I almost have to keep it to myself as a dirty secret that I didn't think it was the most jizzpopping extravaganza of all time.

Can't a film just be 'ok' nowadays?

(yes, i'm aware that TDK was released in 2008 - but it's the rant that counts)

No Story for old men...
Apparently 'we' people who didn't like it - didn't understand it.

i too loved the first half, on the edge of my seat then was GUTTED by the 2nd half. what a massive let down. THEN only to be told "ahh it's your fault for not understanding what evil is, how it can take u randomly" WHAT? fuck off, it had a shit ending and i left feeling cheated.
