The human equivalent of beige.

They are perfectly pleasant, live in a nice 3 bed semi that's very tidy, with a pretty garden and a family hatchback. Well behaved children who go to university, get good jobs somewhere sensible, get married and then repeat the cycle.

How the hell can these people live their lives just being... nice?

Good. I'm glad there are some of us around. We are the ones that contribute to the economy, go out and work, and raise children properly. We can live our lives just being nice by being happy with our lot, having a loving family, enough cash to do nice things, and Sunday roasts.

Having a job, a partner and a family are nothing to do with it. I go out and work too - as do all the people I know who class as not beige. Many have families too. You're reading QOTW on b3ta so unless you stumbled in here by accident you can't possibly be beige, as b3ta is far too risqué for the beiges, and they would never understand a good CDC.

The difference is having something of interest, anything, about your life. I don't care if it's world domination or puppet theatre with your kids. Just something.

What I don't understand is the people who just seem to exist, with almost no deviation from the absolute sensible average. If you ask them who they are, they will probably describe their (dull) job rather than any sort of personality trait.

I'm sure everybody does have an interest - even the 'beige' people. Their interests are just different to yours. Perhaps they have a magnolia paint tin collection. Either way, their interest will be important to them.

I like ska, dub, and reggae. This music is different from the mainstream. Does that mean I can join your club because I'm now 'interesting'?

Oh they do exist
There are a few on the far reaches of my family, two generations of in fact. The most exciting thing they do is visit a national trust stately home and have a cream tea. Which is nice.

I agree that "I'm craaayzee, me!" is more annoying by far, but at least they are very definitely twats. I just can't fathom the non-people.
