This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

*hisses*
*gets offended* ;-)

Depends on where I guess. I like mine, although I know most people think I've got the thickest of the lot (I'm from Sheffield). I actually think some accents create comedy gold from nothing. Some stories are just much funnier told in geordie or broad Yorkshire...
Takes all sorts I guess!
Peace be with you, oh neutral one.

Little Geordie Sgt is standing with his general
They can hear a steady boom boom boom boom
General: Listen sergeant, they've got war drums
Sergeant: The thievin' bastads!

I first heard Phill Jupitus say that on QI and it still leaves me giggling!
