Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

I'm from Skelmersdale, so I have some elements of a scouse accent.
However, I disagree, in most people I quite like the scouse accent, it's the little scally shits that put me right off.

"I have some elements of a scouse accent"
Likewise.
The "scouse-isms" in the accent found in Skem is down to the fact that a lot of people moved from Liverpool in the 60's & 70's with it being one of those "New Towns".
The origial accent is actually the "Woolyback" accent (Wigan sounding), noted if you speak to any of the native coffin dodgers that have always lived there. Especially prevalent in Old Skem.
