Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

Grrrrrr you've hit on my pet hate.
A concensus by definition is general.

...but it's a manner of speech in the circles I move so it just rolls off the tongue. Or indeed, the keyboard. However, just because you were prissy enough to point it out and partly because it's one of the most crap pet hates I've ever heard of, I'm going to leave it where it is.
So ner.

while "general concensus" is your pet hate, you're not pedantic enough to be bothered about spelling consensus correctly. Weird.
