My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

How are rollies common?Rolling cigarettes is an art. Getting them in packs requires no skill and also, a straight doesn't have the aesthetic quality that a really really skinny rolly does.
Also, anyone in a band who smokes, smokes rollies, as far as I can tell. And I've met a lot of bands. Although musicians probably are common, thinking about it, but still, i like them.
