My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

my sister left the uk to live in nzand she was very surprised when she saw a sign on the door of an auckland shop saying 'footwear must be worn in this store'.

i live in nzi really hate this not wearing shoes thing . At the beach it is fine , at the supermarket it is not. SOmebody told me " Its a NZ thing " but its funny how in almost all other parts of the world not wearing shoes is a sign of absolute poverty.
I dont even go barefoot to the washing line. If i ran a shop there would be a strict no shoes / no entry policy its a health and safety thing.
