This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

I've only seen them being worn in two ways:
1) with jogging bottoms, and said wearer has tucked them into the boots (not a good look on anyone, particularly if you're on the chubby side)

2) with a denim miniskirt. Fake tan, bleached blond hair required too. Like you said, most often seen on uni students.

I think they're ugly (the boots, not the people wearing them), and not practical. One girl complained her feet get wet when it rains. if I spent £140 on a pair of boots, I'd expect them to keep my feet nice and dry.

My girlfriend has some
unofficial ones (about a tenner) and says they make fantastic slippers. We are slipper people. Slippers are good.
