This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

Apparently
it's common to put the toilet paper a certain way round, and I always used to change it round in my boyfriend's mum's house. She always changed it back though, she thought i were a bit common for him i think.

It's all to do with hygine
Apparently (so I was told) you have the roll so that the paper's away from the wall when it's hanging, as opposed to touching the wall.
When you tear off a sheet you're less likely to contaminate the wall with what's on your hands.
Personally I think it's just easier to have the paper haging 5" away from the wall, and you can easily fold the end into a little posh triangle as well :-)

My mum does this......
And I always change it around too.

Just to wind her up I don't even put the toilet roll on the holder, just kinda sit it on top of it.
And I use my tumble dryer in the summer as she hates it.
And I refuse to save a measly few quid washing my car by hand, i take it to the car wash.

Kids, if your parents wind you up, wait til you've grown up. You can get them back, and they can't tell you what to do any more mwahahaha!!
