My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Indeed it is!Well, sort of. Mazda provided the drivetrain but Ford did the chassis/suspension/etc. It's actually quite different to the MX-6 that it shares an engine with.
