My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

The only reason I'd answer the door in my pj's or dressing gownwould be that I was hanging around the house naked and someone rang the doorbell.
I think that's slightly classier than the alternative in that situation.
And be honest, how many of us adults actually wear pj's to bed? They're made for lounging around in.
