This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

Earrings on any child under the age of ten
is not only common, but makes me want to ring Social Services.

Totally agree
I consider it child abuse.

Children should be allowed to grow up before they make decisions on whether to mutilate their body or not.

Earrings
Totally agree, although I would raise the age where pierced ears become acceptable to about 16 for a girl and infinity for a chap.

Infection
There is clinical evidence that ear piercing over the age of 11 is more likely to lead to infection. On babies though I abhor it.
