My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Totally agreeI consider it child abuse.
Children should be allowed to grow up before they make decisions on whether to mutilate their body or not.

EarringsTotally agree, although I would raise the age where pierced ears become acceptable to about 16 for a girl and infinity for a chap.

InfectionThere is clinical evidence that ear piercing over the age of 11 is more likely to lead to infection. On babies though I abhor it.
