Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

I once recieved a CV from a guy entirely in 3rd person. "Rick is a talented individual...Rick runs a strong team..."etc. For the entire CV. Didn't get the job.

3rd Person
That's because the Jobcentre folk will tell you it ALL has to be in the 3rd person. I tried it, and felt that it was completely ridiculous and ignored them. They whined. I am now employed. I win. THE END
