My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Yeah it's great isn't it
put the name of somewhere, without an explanation or even a amusing joke. There have been some good answers but just a place name is a bit fucking pointless if you ask me.
