My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

I'm sureI've read a Terry Pratchet book where he talks about a load of black kids in Jamaica running around in wax jackets and brogues calling each other Tarquin and Cecil.
