Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

More "scummy" than "common"
I once saw someone shoplift from Primark.
One item. It's not like they grabbed an entire rack and ran out (which I saw a couple of lads do in Next). I reckon it was probably worth about £6 and they picked it up and made a break for the door.
I was actually quite surprised that the security guard stopped her.

my friend
steals a pair of sunglasses or necklace everytime she goes to primark after shes bought all the stuff she wants - not because shes cheap, just for the fun of it and she's never been caught.

I saw someone shoplift a pair of jeans from Primark and get caught.
It was in Hounslow though, so I wasn't too surprised. If I were to shoplift, I'd aim a bit higher.

If you're skint enough to shoplift from Primark
then you're bound to know someone who works there and who only put 1 item out of 5 through the till for you.
What did they steal that was worth £6, anyway? A coat?
