Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

'tis a glory to behold and no mistake.
It gets thicker and more incomprehensible the further you venture up the high street. Generally from the town square where Wilkinsons is and up towards Woolworths it's a bit of a mixture, but once you cross the road it's like being in another dimension - a dimension filled with mismatched sports wear and pasty crumbs.
I've probably bumped into this woman and not realised...
