Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

On here I think
I read a few weeks back that having a Television in the bedroom was common.

Dangerous ground...
Was talking to a feller at work about TV viewing habits. He mentioned that his wife watched TV in the bedroom, but he didn't.

I had to say it. "Does that mean she watches it over your shoulder?", to general ribald guffaws.

When I found out he was getting divorced a coupla weeks later, I felt lower than Gordon Strachan's strikers...
