My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Dangerous ground...Was talking to a feller at work about TV viewing habits. He mentioned that his wife watched TV in the bedroom, but he didn't.
I had to say it. "Does that mean she watches it over your shoulder?", to general ribald guffaws.
When I found out he was getting divorced a coupla weeks later, I felt lower than Gordon Strachan's strikers...
