This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

I'm feeling quite common this evening
I moan as much as the next person about Christmas starting earlier every year, but I get pathetically excited about the "party food" that appears in the supermarket frozen food cabinets around this time. Sod parties, I buy it for myself. 3 for £5 on duck spring rolls, prawn wontons and breaded cream cheese stuffed jalapenos. Fucking yes. It's like having a crap takeaway in your freezer.

Also, in the last day or two before Crimbo itself,
posh fresh food becomes very cheap. Joints of meat for 50p, 10 'gourmet' pies for a quid, that sort of thing.

My dogs and cats think it's, erm, Christmas.

I chose to read that
without the word takeaway... it just seemed right that way.

oooh
my freezer's above the fridge, that would be a bit tricky. I'd have to do it round someone else's house. *thinks*

Breaded cream cheese stuffed jalapenos
I made some of those t'other day, but replaced breadcrumbs with bacon and mixed some good cheddar into the cream cheese.

A plate of ten lasted about nine seconds.
