My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

I'm sure you raise the average IQ by scores.I lived there in the very early 90's when I was a tweenager, so I shouldn't really judge. I do really dislike their particular brand of pronunciation though.

Which areadid you live in then? I first lived there in the late 80's when I was at college. Had a house on the lovely Ariel Street for a year, then a flat next to what was the Portland.
I now live in what is considered the posh end.
