Bloody earthquakes
Had an egg I was going to poach for breakfast, but we got hit by 7.1 earthquake and it fell off the counter and broke. I demand compensation!

Is it as bad as all that over there? The news seem to be hamming it up a bit.

We're still getting aftershocks now
Basically, Christchurch was steamrolled. Cracks in the road everywhere, almost all of our old heritage buldings and churches are badly damaged (pretty much every house and building made out of bricks/with a chimney suffered extensive damage) and the entire centre of the city has been cordoned off until further notice because a lot of the storefronts just came off.

There's only been one casualty reported, so we got off lightly really, but I think the shock of it all (Christchurch never gets real earthquakes, just the odd tremor now and then) and the damage it's done to the city has left everyone reeling.

But the worst was losing that egg. I've only got 5 more left.
