Hmmya.
The decision based on the facts was correct - according to the information that the Intelligence Community had at the time, Iraq had WMD. Unfortunately, although they asked for time to corroborate this information (as it was sourced from people who would likely have an interest in the fall of the existing regime) it was taken as gospel by the Government of the day and used as the decision to go to War.

Let's be honest here - the American's knew that the Iraqi's had WMD - they sold them to them in the first place.
