Interestingly, if you read Karen Armstrong's A History of God,
the deity we now know as Jehovah, Yahweh or Allah began "life" as part of a pantheon worshipped by the pre-semites in which his job was the god of war. The fact that the three religions that all worship him are responsible for most of the warfare on this planet may not be a coincidence...
