I went the big bed route too.
As a fellow six-footer, I got fed up of having my feet stick out off the end and/or having no room to roll around in my sleep (which I apparently have been known to do), and I bought an extra-large - don't know whether it's a superking or just a regular king-size - bed when I moved into my current place. It was the mother of all bastards getting the frame up the stairs, but well worth it.
